Edward Hastings (1890 -1980 ) was the son of James Hastings (1852 - 1922), minister and theological editor, compiler of the famous Dictionary of the Bible, 5 vols. (Edinburgh, T. and T. Clark, 1898 - 1904) and many other well-known religious works. He was born in Kinneff on 21 Mar 1890, attended school in St Cyrus, Montrose, and graduated MA from Aberdeen University in 1913.
